Review: Ali Hazelwood has me in a chokehold and I will gladly give her anything she wants for the privilege. In Bride, Hazelwood takes her signature witty, headstrong, lovable, doofus couple through a whole new ringer of political intrigue, clashing paranormal cultures, an arranged marriage between mortal enemies, and a slow burn that BURNS. Throw in a little omegaverse knot and you have another romantic hit in a new genre. Misery is probably my favourite FMC from Hazelwood with her unique life even within her very non-human world. Born a vampire, but raised a political pawn, she knows so little about her culture and couldn’t care less about it. That is, until her human best friend disappears and she must return to her role as political hostage to uncover the truth. Her growth from beginning to end was so much fun and infuriating all at the same time. Lowe, my favourte MMC from Hazelwood is barely able to keep it together and I live for it. My guy is unhinged, obsessed, being pulled in a million directions, and cannot catch a break. Born to lead, reluctant to take the role, he thought he was brokering a peace between vampires and werewolves when he agreed to a political marriage. He got far more than he bargained for. I love them. I will take 14 more, please.
