Review: Into the Dying Light

3.5/5

For fans of: Trilogies, found families, fantasy, Greek inspired adventures, Chosen Ones, defying destiny, prophecies

Synopsis: The world is at the brink of destruction. The god of this world is trapped in Beru’s body but grows in strength. Anton, with the knowledge on how to kill the god and save their world, leads the crew on a mission to do just that. But secrets, fate, and arrogance will bring everyone to their breaking point and beyond.

Review: I didn’t like the ending. Just straight up, I was underwhelmed by the conclusion to so much amazing set up. For about 80% of the novel, I was hooked with our scattered heroes moving quickly to meet back up, Pallas always a step or two ahead, new twists and turns impeding both the physical and emotional journeys our motley crew must take together and alone. The betrayals, the secrets, and prophecies they cannot escape no matter how hard they try, I was all there for it. But the final 20% was just a mess for me. Back and forth with failed attempt, let’s try this, failed attempt, oh new information, failed attempt, hopelessness and acceptance of fate, failed attempt. I just was tired of it all by the final page. The rollercoaster of emotions, which I am usually all for, was just not worth it in the end. I do want to reread the series now that it is complete and I can experience the story in full. Hopefully my opinion will change with a fresh look at the completed story.
