Review: House of Hollow

4.5/5

For fans of: sisters, mystery, unexplained disappearances, changelings

Synopsis: The Hollow sisters are strange. Beautiful, mysterious, dangerous. When they were little, they disappeared in the middle of Edinburgh only to appear in the same spot one month later, naked and with no knowledge of what happened to them. No knowledge of their past at all. That was only the beginning. Years later, the eldest has gone missing and it is up to the remaining Hollow sisters to find her and unravel the past that has haunted them their entire lives.

Review: The cover of the book was the very first thing that drew my attention. I love a good cover and yes, I judge books this way. This story was nothing like I expected. It is dark and enthralling, an earthy attack on the senses. The Hollow sisters are some of the strangest characters I have ever encountered, but also, I want to be just like them. Wicked smart, having a magic that is literally enthralling but also terrifying, and both being completely in control and having none at all. I I don’t know how I feel about the story overall, but I will tell you that I was unsettled for most of the time I was reading it. An excellent feeling for a book like this. I love a book that captures all of your senses, makes you feel the story around you, getting under your skin. I will be sitting with the Hollow sisters for quite some time.
